Bonnie Powell spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on six hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Perryville's win was truly a team effort as seven different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Brooklyn Eppler, who went 2-for-4 with one triple and one run. Another was Jayden Warren, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Perryville kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in four consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Lamar owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Tuesday. They skirted past Mansfield 1-0.
Not much got past Mylee Parker, who gave up just four hits and racked up 13 Ks to keep Mansfield off the board.
Perryville now has a winning record of 9-8. As for Lamar, their victory bumped their record up to 14-2.
Thursday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Perryville hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .372. However, it's not like Lamar struggles in that department as they've averaged .349. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
