Recap: Bellingham Bayhawks vs. Lakewood Cougars
The Bellingham Bayhawks's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their eighth straight loss. They were the victim of a tough 63-39 loss at the hands of Lakewood. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss Bellingham has suffered since December 9, 2023.
Leading Lakewood to victory were KRYSTLE RAYMOND and Karly Stewart. RAYMOND scored 16 points along with five steals, while Stewart scored 20 points along with seven steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Stewart has scored all season. Leiana Riveira was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with four steals.
Bellingham's defeat was their sixth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 2-12. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 26.5 points per game. As for Lakewood, the victory got them back to even at 6-6.
Bellingham will look to defend their home court on Saturday against Squalicum at 5:30 p.m. Squalicum presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Bellingham in Washington (Squalicum is ranked 98th, while Bellingham is ranked 280th). As for Lakewood, they will head out on the road to challenge Oak Harbor at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday.
