Basketball Recap: Bloomfield Bobcats vs. Shiprock Chieftains
The Bloomfield Bobcats won the last time they faced the Shiprock Chieftains, and things went their way on Friday too. Bloomfield sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 36-34 victory over the Chieftains.
Bloomfield's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Danielle Johnson, who scored 14 points along with seven rebounds. Another player making a difference was Aliya Quintana, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 12 rebounds.
Bloomfield's win bumped their record up to 14-5. As for Shiprock, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-11.
Bloomfield will head out on the road to face off against the Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in New Mexico (Aztec is ranked 49th, while the Bobcats are ranked 25th). As for Shiprock, they will be playing at home against the Broncos at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Kirtland Central will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.
