Softball Recap: Maumee Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Maumee had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They blew past the Otsego Knights 10-4. Considering the Panthers have won 11 games by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Hannah Ruiz spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on eight hits.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Reign Hurt, who fired off two home runs, three runs, and three RBI while going 3-for-4. That's the most home runs she has posted since back in May of 2025. The team also got some help courtesy of Taylor Smith, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Maumee kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in eight consecutive contests.

Maumee's win bumped their record up to 15-8. As for Otsego, they moved to 9-11 with that loss, which also ended their four-game winning streak.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Maumee will venture away from home to square off against Oak Harbor at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Otsego, they will square off against Napoleon at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
