Basketball Recap: Boulder Creek Takes a Loss

It was a proper cat-fight when Boulder Creek challenged Liberty on Tuesday. The Boulder Creek Jaguars were dealt a 67-27 defeat at the hands of the Liberty Lions. The Jaguars have struggled against the Lions recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Liberty's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Francesca Sofia, who posted 19 points along with eight steals and five assists. Sofia's evening made it eight games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Makenna Johnson, who earned 17 points in addition to eight steals and five assists.

Boulder Creek's loss dropped their record down to 4-17. As for Liberty, their record is now 14-8.

Boulder Creek and Liberty could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Arizona Rankings. Boulder Creek will face off against O'Connor at 7:00 p.m. on February 4th down 184 places (204 vs. 20). Meanwhile, Liberty (ranked 64th) will meet Pinnacle (ranked eighth) at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
