Basketball Game Preview: Fairmont Cardinals vs. Jackson County Central Huskies

The Fairmont Cardinals will head out to square off against the Jackson County Central Huskies at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Fairmont is headed into the game having just suffered their closest defeat since December 20, 2024 on Tuesday. They fell just short of Belle Plaine by a score of 66-63. The Cardinals have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Jackson County Central waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with six straight wins... but they left with seven. They blew past the Titans 91-34. Given the Huskies' advantage in MaxPreps' Minnesota basketball rankings (they are ranked 28th, while the Titans are ranked 350th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Jackson County Central's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-2. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 80.6 points per game. As for Fairmont, their loss dropped their record down to 10-6.

Fairmont couldn't quite finish off Jackson County Central in their previous matchup back in December of 2024 and fell 52-49. Can Fairmont avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
