Volleyball Recap: Thompson Valley Eagles vs. Windsor Wizards

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Thompson Valley had no problem doing just that on Thursday. They came out on top against the Windsor Wizards by a score of 3-1. For the Eagles, this counts as revenge for the 3-2 win the Wizards walked away with the last time they faced one another back in September of 2023.

Thompson Valley had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. The final score came out to 25-27, 25-21, 27-25, 25-14.

Avery Gibbs paced Thompson Valley's offense, picking up 19 kills. Gibbs got some help from Ashlyn Tafoya and her 53 assists. Lauren Jacobson controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.

Despite the loss, Windsor still got an impressive performance from Avery Smiley, who had 20 digs. Smiley has been hot for a while, having posted ten or more digs the last 15 times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Mia Baatz, who had nine digs.

The victory (which was Thompson Valley's fourth in a row) raised their record to 25-1. As for Windsor, they moved to 18-9 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Thompson Valley will face off against Mead at 2:00 p.m. on Friday. Thompson Valley is looking to tack on another W to their 19-game streak on the road dating back to last season. Windsor does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
