Softball Recap: Boone Grove Find Success

Boone Grove proved they can win big on Friday (they won by ten) and on Saturday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged out the South Central Satellites 7-6. This was a revenge game for the Wolves: when they faced off against the Satellites two weeks ago, they had to take a 8-0 defeat.

Jordyn Botma spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and three unearned) runs on five hits and racked up ten Ks.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Zoey Powell, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That triple was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Maria Otero, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Boone Grove has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 12-10 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.2 runs over those games. As for South Central, their loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 8-1 and their overall record down to 14-5-1.

Boone Grove wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, an 11-2 victory against Morgan Township on the 17th. As for South Central, they have also already played their next contest, a 16-1 win against Portage on the 19th.
