Softball Game Preview: Lompoc Braves vs. Mission College Prep Royals

Lompoc has gone a perfect 5-0 against Mission College Prep recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Lompoc Braves will look to defend their home field against the Mission College Prep Royals at 4:30 p.m. Lompoc is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.3 runs per game this season.

On Tuesday, Lompoc earned a 7-3 win over St. Joseph.

Alex Brooks spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on six hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Teagan Thompson was incredible, going 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Rianna Stouppe, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Monday just wasn't the day for Mission College Prep's offense. They lost 7-0 to Righetti on Monday. The Royals' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Mission College Prep saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Dani Rivas, who went 2-for-3 with one double. That double marked the first that Rivas hit this season.

Lompoc's victory bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Mission College Prep, their loss dropped their record down to 3-5.

Lompoc beat Mission College Prep 7-4 when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Does Lompoc have another victory up their sleeve, or will Mission College Prep turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
