Recap: Desert Pines Jaguars vs. Mojave Rattlers
The Desert Pines Jaguars's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. The match between Desert Pines and Mojave wasn't particularly close, with Desert Pines falling 82-66. While losing is never fun, Desert Pines can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nevada basketball rankings (they are ranked 41st, while Mojave is ranked sixth).
Leading Mojave to victory were C.J. Shaw and Zacarrion Jackson. Shaw scored 23 points along with five rebounds and three steals, while Jackson dropped a double-double on 18 points and 13 rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Shaw has scored at least 25% of Mojave's points. Phillip Gordon was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Desert Pines' defeat was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 2-7. As for Mojave, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-4.
Desert Pines will head out on the road to face off against Spring Valley at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Mojave, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Bishop Gorman at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
