Basketball Recap: Newport Comes Up Short

Newport was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their tenth straight loss. They lost 56-36 to the Greenwood Wildcats. While losing is never fun, the Buffaloes can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 742nd, while the Wildcats are ranked 347th).

Newport's defeat dropped their record down to 1-19. As for Greenwood, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 13 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 16-5 record this season.

Newport will challenge Covenant Christian Academy at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Greenwood, a feisty cat fight is on tap when the Greenwood Wildcats take on the Lancaster County Christian Lions at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday.
