The Snowflake Lobos will venture away from home to face off against the Blue Ridge Yellow Jackets at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Snowflake will be strutting in after a victory while Blue Ridge will be coming in after a defeat.
Snowflake had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt Alchesay on Wednesday. The Lobos were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over the Falcons. The Lobos haven't had any issues with the Falcons recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.
Gavin Rausch was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March. Xavier Reidhead was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.
Snowflake always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .625. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Alchesay only posted an OBP of .316.
Meanwhile, after a string of four wins, Blue Ridge's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They lost 13-7 to Show Low. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Yellow Jackets, who until this match were averaging 3.78 runs allowed.
Brenton Newcomb was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Justin Carpenter, who got on base in two of his three plate appearances with one run and one RBI.
Snowflake pushed their record up to 13-6 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.9 runs over those games. As for Blue Ridge, their loss dropped their record down to 13-5.
Both Snowflake and Blue Ridge just can't seem to miss. The Lobos have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 8.8 hits per game. However, it's not like Blue Ridge struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 4.9 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Snowflake came out on top in a nail-biter against Blue Ridge in their previous matchup on April 1st, sneaking past 9-7. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Lobos since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
