Softball Game Preview: Selinsgrove Seals vs. Danville Ironmen

The Selinsgrove Seals will challenge the Danville Ironmen at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Selinsgrove has given up an average of 13.1 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Shikellamy hit Selinsgrove with a five-run first inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Seals fell 13-8 to the Braves. The Seals have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Peyton Yerger stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: she went 1-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Molly Hess, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Danville was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They lost 11-0 to Williamsport.

Selinsgrove's loss dropped their record down to 4-6. As for Danville, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-8.

Thursday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Selinsgrove hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .335. However, it's not like Danville struggles in that department as they've averaged .333. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.

Selinsgrove skirted past Danville 5-4 in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Will the Seals repeat their success, or do the Ironmen have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
