Softball Game Preview: Logan Wildcats vs. Huntington Highlanders

The Logan Wildcats will face off against the Huntington Highlanders at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Logan will be strutting in after a victory while Huntington will be coming in after a loss.

Huntington will be up against a hot Logan team: the squad just extended their winning streak to three. Logan came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 3-2 W against Belfry.

Myleigh Adkins spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on two hits and racked up 17 Ks. What's more, she gave up only zero walks, the fewest she's had since back in April of 2024.

At the plate, Lena Setser was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one home run.

Meanwhile, Huntington came up short against Lincoln County on Thursday, falling 12-4. The defeat continues a trend for the Highlanders in their meetings with the Panthers: they've now lost nine in a row.

Huntington saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Layla Crickard, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one triple. Lilly Robinson also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Logan's win bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Huntington, their loss dropped their record down to 2-6.

Huntington's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Saturday. Logan has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 13.7 strikeouts per game.
