Basketball Recap: Kade Milleville's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Altamont over Cumberland

Altamont fought the good fight in their overtime contest against Cumberland on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 48-43 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Pirates. The Indians were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Pirates apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2024.

Altamont lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Kade Milleville, who posted 12 points and eight boards. He has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last six times he's played. Another player making a difference was Parker Bell, who scored nine points and six rebounds.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Cumberland to victory, but perhaps none more so than Cameron Roedl, who shot 47% from the field en route to 19 points and seven boards. That's the most points Roedl has posted since back in January. The team also got some help courtesy of Zack Harmon, who almost dropped a double-double with nine points and 11 rebounds.

Altamont's loss dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Cumberland, they now have a winning record of 2-1.

Looking ahead, Altamont will look to defend their home court on Friday against Vandalia at 7:30 p.m. As for Cumberland, they will head out to challenge Oblong/Hutsonville/Palestine at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Cumberland will be up against Oblong/Hutsonville/Palestine's rather soft defense (which has allowed 52.33 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
