Basketball Recap: Massanutten Military Academy Comes Up Short

Massanutten Military Academy came up into this matchup off a tough 51-point defeat back in December of 2024. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of the Wakefield Country Day Owls by a score of 47-45 on Friday. The Colonels haven't had much luck with the Owls recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.

Wakefield Country Day's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Alfredo Martinez, who went 9 for 21 on his way to 20 points and five steals. That makes it seven consecutive games in which Martinez has scored at least a third of Wakefield Country Day's points. Another player making a difference was Jacob Didomenico, who posted 12 points along with five assists and three steals.

Massanutten Military Academy's loss dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Wakefield Country Day, their victory ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-9.

Massanutten Military Academy will welcome Redeemer Classical at 4:30 p.m. on January 24th. As for Wakefield Country Day, they will take on Chelsea Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
