Football Recap: Bonita Springs Bullsharks vs. Barron Collier Cougars
Bonita Springs was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their ninth straight loss. They were dealt a 63-12 defeat at the hands of the Barron Collier Cougars. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Bullsharks of the 49-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in September of 2023.
Zach Prieto and Daniel Haith certainly did their best on Thursday to avoid the loss. Prieto rushed for 187 yards and a touchdown while picking up 7.8 yards per carry, while Haith rushed for 148 yards and a touchdown on only eight carries. With that strong performance, Prieto is now averaging an impressive 104 rushing yards per game.
Even though they lost, Bonita Springs was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 360 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 167 rushing yards in seven consecutive contests.
Barron Collier had a senior duo take command as Brian Williams threw for 279 yards and five touchdowns while completing 83.3% of his passes and Brody Graham picked up 200 receiving yards and three touchdowns. Graham's longest reception was for an incredible 86 yards. Caden Hudson did his part for the team as well, scoring a TD off of 68 receiving yards.
Bonita Springs' defeat dropped their record down to 1-9. As for Barron Collier, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 5-5.

As for Barron Collier, they are on the road again on Friday to play Northwestern at 7:00 p.m. Northwestern is on a four-game streak of home wins, Barron Collier a three-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the field.
