Baseball Recap: Tupelo Comes Up Short

Tupelo extended their losing streak to three on Tuesday, dropping them down to 6-5. They took a 9-6 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Coleman Wildcats. The Tigers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Wildcats apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2019.

Dax Young made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

As for Coleman, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 10-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games.

On Coleman's side, they let Silas Walters and Madden Sawyer run wild. Walters went 2-for-3 with four runs and two stolen bases, while Sawyer went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those three hits gave Sawyer a new career-high. Ian Ruelle also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Coincidentally, Tupelo and Coleman will both be playing Wright City the next time they take the field. The Wildcats will head out to face the Lumberjax at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, while the Tigers will host them at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
