With a playoff game on the line, Loyola rose to the challenge on Friday. They beat the Lutheran Northwest Crusaders by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 60-40. The result was nothing new for the Bull Dogs, who have now won five contests by 20 points or more so far this season.

Lutheran Northwest's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brock Carpenter, who picked up 86 receiving yards and three touchdowns. Lutheran Northwest is undefeated when Carpenter posts two or more receiving touchdowns, but 1-5 otherwise. Rudy Hauss also helped with two touchdowns in total.

The win (which was Loyola's third in a row) raised their record to 6-6. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 20 points. As for Lutheran Northwest, their defeat ended a seven-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 7-5.
