Softball Recap: Emerson Triumphs

Emerson won the last time they faced Independence and things went their way on Friday too. The Emerson Mavericks walked away with a 7-2 victory over the Independence Knights. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Mavericks.

Madison Fletcher spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on four hits and racked up eight Ks. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March of 2024.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Savannah Carleton, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with four RBI and one double. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Amilee Stapp, who scored a run and stole Two bases. while going 1-for-3.

Emerson's record now sits at 9-5. As for Independence, they now have a losing record of 4-5.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Emerson will take on Lebanon Trail at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Lebanon Trail's pitching crew has only allowed 3.3 runs per game this season, so Emerson's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Independence, they will square off against Memorial at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Memorial is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.5 runs per game this season.
