Volleyball Recap: Woodstock Academy Falls Short Against Ranked Wolcott RVT

Woodstock Academy faced Wolcott RVT in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Wednesday. The Centaurs lost 3-0 to the Wildcats. The Centaurs were not able to make up for their loss to the Wildcats from their previous meeting back in May of 2024.

While Woodstock Academy ultimately came up short, they really made Wolcott RVT work, particularly in the second set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-21, 27-25, 25-12.

Woodstock Academy's offense was headlined by Owen Budd and Evan Chernik, who picked up eight kills apiece. They got some help from Jake Henderson and his 18 assists. Finally, Budd was also a dominant defender, finishing with a team-high three blocks.

Woodstock Academy's defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-5. As for Wolcott RVT, their victory bumped their record up to 10-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Woodstock Academy will square off against Civic Leadership at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Wolcott RVT, they will challenge Cheney Tech at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
