Baseball Recap: Grant Has No Trouble Against Arleta

Grant won the last time they faced Arleta and things went their way on Friday too. The Lancers were the clear victors by a 10-4 margin over the Mustangs. The Lancers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five contests by six runs or more this season.

Damian Gonzalez was a major factor no matter where he played. He struck out eight batters over six innings while giving up three earned runs off six hits (and only one walk). Gonzalez was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Sonny Robledo was a standout: he went 1-for-2 with three stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Matthew Gonzalez was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two RBI.

Grant was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Arleta only posted a batting average of .281.

The victory made it two in a row for Grant and bumps their season record up to 10-5. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 5 runs in those games. As for Arleta, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-13.

Grant wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 7-1 defeat against Van Nuys on the 30th. As for Arleta, they have also already played their next match, a 2-0 loss against Maywood CES on the 3rd.
