Baseball Game Preview: Pearland Oilers vs. Dawson Eagles

For the second straight game, Pearland will face off against Dawson. Pearland is taking a road trip to take on Dawson at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Pearland 2.7, Dawson 3.9) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Pearland fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Dawson on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 5-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Eagles. Surprisingly, this marked the fourth straight game that the away team has come away the victor.

Nicholas Partida put in work while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over four innings pitched. Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. He also hit a double, marking his first of the season.

In other pitching news, Pearland got a good showing from Jaden Ornelas, who tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Ornelas has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season.

The win (which was Dawson's sixth in a row) raised their record to 9-6. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.3 runs over those games. As for Pearland, their loss dropped their record down to 12-6.
