Football Recap: Lewis Cass Comes Up Short

After soaring to 48 points the game before, Lewis Cass was a bit more limited in their contest on Friday. They took a 21-13 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Maconaquah Braves. The Kings have struggled against the Braves recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Despite the loss, Lewis Cass still got an impressive performance from Gavin Smith, who rushed for 115 yards and one touchdown.

Maconaquah's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Marcell Sims, who rushed for 104 yards and one TD, and also picked up 47 receiving yards. Sims also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, making nine total tackles and defending one pass. Aiden Robinson was another key player, throwing for 226 yards and one touchdown.

Lewis Cass' defeat dropped their record down to 4-3. As for Maconaquah, the win keeps them at an undefeated 7-0.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lewis Cass will venture away from home to face off against Wabash at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Kings will be up against the Apaches' rather soft defense (which has allowed 46.57 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Maconaquah, they are taking a road trip to square off against Manchester at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Braves will need to watch out since the Squires have now posted at least 31 points in their last three contests.
