Basketball Game Preview: Jacksonville Crimsons vs. Springfield Senators + How To Watch

Jacksonville hasn't had much luck against Springfield recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The Crimsons will host the Senators at 3:00 p.m. Jacksonville has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.

Jacksonville is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They fell just short of North Mac by a score of 36-34 on Monday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Crimsons have suffered since December 12, 2024.

Despite their loss, Jacksonville saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. AUTUMN GAUSE, who posted eight points and seven boards, was perhaps the best of all. MALIN CAMERER was another key player, putting up seven points along with six rebounds and three steals.

Meanwhile, Springfield beat Bloomington 60-49 on Tuesday. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Senators' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 159th, while the Purple Raiders are ranked 381st).

Springfield found their leader in sophomore Morgan Leininger, who went 7-for-13 en route to 22 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Aniyah Rhinehouse, who put up 16 points.

Springfield was working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Springfield's victory bumped their record up to 4-5. As for Jacksonville, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-8.
