Baseball Game Preview: Barberton Magics vs. Perry Panthers

The Barberton Magics will take on the Perry Panthers at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a four-game winning streak alive.

Barberton lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Revere, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Thursday's match. The Magics' pitchers stepped up to hand the Minutemen a 6-0 shutout on Thursday. Considering the Magics have won four games by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Marianno Daugherty was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Those two hits gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Javon Clayton, who went 1-for-3 with three stolen bases and one run.

Meanwhile, Perry put their dominant pitchers on display in the team's third consecutive shutout on Wednesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 1-0 win over Washington.

Perry's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-11. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.6 runs on average over those games. As for Barberton, their victory bumped their record up to 6-7.
