Softball Recap: Hilliard Comes Up Short

Hilliard fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against West Nassau on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Warriors by a score of 5-4. The Red Flashes' loss continues a trend for the team, making it ten in a row.

Nevaeh Brown spent all 8.1 innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on ten hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Kierstin Northern was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Hilliard's defeat dropped their record down to 2-11. As for West Nassau, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-7 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hilliard will head out to take on Fernandina Beach at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for West Nassau, they will venture away from home to square off against Ponte Vedra at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Warriors' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Sharks have averaged an impressive 7.1 runs per game this season.
