Softball Game Preview: Santa Fe Christian Eagles vs. Francis Parker Lancers

The Santa Fe Christian Eagles will head out on the road to take on the Francis Parker Lancers at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Santa Fe Christian's pitching crew has only allowed 4.1 runs per game this season, so Francis Parker's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

The home team had come away the winner the last seven times Santa Fe Christian and Bishop's had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Eagles fell 6-2 to the Knights on Thursday. Eagles fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Knights since on Thursday.

Torin Bennett spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and two unearned) runs on five hits and racked up 12 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Santa Fe Christian saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Noelani Clifford, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base.

Meanwhile, Francis Parker scored first but ultimately less than Tri-City Christian in their contest on Friday. They lost 20-2 to the Eagles. The Lancers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Francis Parker's loss dropped their record down to 6-10. As for Santa Fe Christian, they now have a losing record of 6-7.

Francis Parker's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Tuesday. Santa Fe Christian has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 10.3 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Francis Parker, though, as they've been averaging only 2.4 strikeouts. Will Santa Fe Christian keep running through batters, or will the Lancers buck the trend?

Everything went Santa Fe Christian's way against Francis Parker when the teams last played back in March, as Santa Fe Christian made off with an 11-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
