Volleyball Recap: Concord Christian Takes Down Notre Dame in a Playoff Battle

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Concord Christian walked away with it. They walked away with a 3-1 win over the Notre Dame Fighting Irish on Saturday. This was payback for the Lions, who suffered a 3-0 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Concord Christian's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Katelyn Stooksbury, who had 26 digs and four aces. That's the most aces Stooksbury has posted over her last seven contests. The team also got some help courtesy of Laynie Sanchez, who had 13 digs and three aces.

They weren't the only good servers: Concord Christian was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 12 aces. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Notre Dame only served nine.

When it comes to explaining why Notre Dame lost, don't look at Karley Nutz. Despite the final result, she had 14 digs and five assists.

Concord Christian is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 23-9 record this season. As for Notre Dame, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 17-19.

Concord Christian wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 3-0 loss against Battle Ground Academy on the 14th. As for Notre Dame, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-1 win against Jackson Christian on the 14th.
