James River and Lord Botetourt are an even 5-5 against one another since March of 2016, but likely not for long. The Knights will face off against the Cavaliers at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.

James River proved they can win big on Wednesday (they won by ten) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Carroll County, sneaking past 7-5.

Meanwhile, after only two runs in their last game, Lord Botetourt made sure to put some runs up on the board against Northside on Friday. The Cavaliers won by a run and slipped past the Vikings 10-9. The win continues a trend for the Cavaliers in their matchups with the Vikings: they've now won seven in a row.

Phoenix Humphries spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered seven earned (and two unearned) runs on nine hits and racked up seven Ks.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Abby Perkey, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Gracie Sargent, who went 2-for-5 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

The victory got Lord Botetourt back to even at 5-5. As for James River, their win bumped their record up to 11-2.

James River came out on top in a nail-biter against Lord Botetourt when the teams last played back in April of 2025, sneaking past 13-12. Do the Knights have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Cavaliers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
