Basketball Recap: Newton-Conover Red Devils vs. East Rutherford Cavaliers

Newton-Conover gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Wednesday. They took their match with ease, bagging a 75-44 victory over the East Rutherford Cavaliers. That's more bragging rights for the Red Devils, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Lea Boyens had an outrageously good game as she shot 4-for-7 from deep and almost dropped a double-double on 23 points and nine assists. Sara Sain was another key player, dropping a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds.

Newton-Conover was working as a unit and finished the game with 24 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as East Rutherford only posted four.

Bella Harris and Faith Smith certainly did their best on Wednesday to avoid the loss. Harris almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine rebounds, while Smith earned six points plus six rebounds and three steals.

East Rutherford's loss dropped their record down to 0-2.

Newton-Conover has already played their next game, a 69-53 win against Foard on the 22nd. As for East Rutherford, they will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against McDowell at 6:30 p.m.
