Basketball Recap: Rank Disadvantage No Problem for Russia

On Monday, the Russia Raiders beat the Waynesville Spartans 53-43. The win was all the more spectacular given the Raiders' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 280th, while the Spartans are ranked 68th).

Russia is also on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-7 record this season. As for Waynesville, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 12-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Russia won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Parkway at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Parkway has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. Waynesville has already played their next contest (against Valley View), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
