Preview: Acalanes Dons vs. San Marin Mustangs

Acalanes has enjoyed the comforts of home their last three games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will take on the San Marin Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Acalanes extended their postseason success on Friday against Vallejo. They really took it to the Redhawks for the full four quarters, racking up a 56-20 victory at home. 56 seems to be a good number for Acalanes as the team scooped up a victory with the same number of points in their previous game.

Acalanes had a senior duo take command as Jack Miller rushed for 76 yards and three touchdowns and Trevor Rogers threw for 132 yards and two touchdowns while completing 88.9% of his passes. The team also got some help courtesy of Paul Kuhner, who picked up 78 receiving yards and a touchdown.

Meanwhile, San Marin put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They blew past Maria Carrillo 59-7 at home. Given San Marin's advantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 87th, while Maria Carrillo is ranked 407th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

San Marin's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Dominic Ingrassia, who threw for 143 yards and three touchdowns on only 13 passes. Daniel Rolovich was another key contributor, rushing for 52 yards and a touchdown.

Acalanes has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season. As for San Marin, they have yet to lose a game at home this season, leaving them with a 12-0 record.

Keep an eye on the quarterbacks in this one, as both both teams don't mess around when it comes to the passing game. Acalanes has been excellent in the air this season, having averaged 267.1 passing yards per game. However, it's not like San Marin struggles in that department as they've been even better at 274.9 per game. It's looking like Friday's match might be a classic QB duel.

Acalanes came up short against San Marin in their previous meeting back in August, falling 27-20. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of San Marin's Ingrassia, who threw for 267 yards and a touchdown while completing 72.4% of his passes, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Now that Acalanes knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
