Baseball Recap: Warren Comes Up Short

Warren extended their losing streak to four on Wednesday, dropping them down to 1-5. They lost 9-3 to the Cathedral Prep Ramblers. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Dragons of the 14-4 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2025.

Broc Bryan was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI. He also put up a run, which was his first of the season.

As for Cathedral Prep, their win was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-2. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games.

On Cathedral Prep's side, Joey Makela looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.

On the hitting side, Cathedral Prep let Derick Friedman and Matthew Oblich run wild. Friedman went 1-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double, while Oblich got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. That's the most runs Friedman has posted since back in May of 2025. The team also got some help courtesy of Matthew Boam, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

Looking ahead, Warren will be playing in front of their home fans against Corry at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Cathedral Prep, they will venture away from home to face off against General McLane at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Lancers' pitching crew has only allowed 2.9 runs per game this season, so the Ramblers' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
