Baseball Recap: Centauri Triumphs

Centauri hadn't done well against Bayfield recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. The Falcons came out on top against the Wolverines by a score of 5-1. This was a revenge game for the Falcons: when they faced off against the Wolverines on Saturday, they had to take a 8-0 loss.

Drake Gallardo spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on five hits and racked up nine Ks. He has become a key player for Centauri: the team is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 2-7 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Ryder Norton was excellent, going 3-for-4 with three RBI and one double. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jace Haslett, who scored a run while going 3-for-4.

Norton wasn't the only one making solid contact: Centauri kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. The Falcons are 5-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

Centauri is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 5-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Bayfield, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-7.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Centauri will host Cedaredge at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Bayfield, they will square off against Alamosa at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
