Softball Recap: Wharton Falls Short of Steinbrenner in the Playoffs

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Wharton can now relate to. They fell just short of the Steinbrenner Warriors by a score of 8-6 on Tuesday. The Wildcats haven't had much luck with the Warriors recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

Eliza Connell spent all 8.2 innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and one unearned) runs on ten hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Madelyn Parker made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run and two runs. Adriana Cadicamo was another key player, going 2-for-5 with two runs.

Wharton's defeat dropped their record down to 13-12. As for Steinbrenner, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 13 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-7 record this season.

Wharton does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Steinbrenner, they will take on Wiregrass Ranch at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Bulls will roll in looking for their 19th straight win, something the Warriors surely won't give up without a fight.
