Soccer Recap: Lawndale Comes Up Short

If Lawndale was riding high fresh off their 7-0 takedown of Morningside last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Lawndale Cardinals came up short against the Santa Monica Vikings on Wednesday, falling 11-0. While losing is never fun, the Cardinals can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 425th, while the Vikings are ranked 12th).

Lawndale's loss dropped their record down to 8-4-2. As for Santa Monica, their victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-2-1.

Lawndale will welcome Inglewood on Friday. Santa Monica has already played their next match (against Culver City), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
