Soccer Game Preview: Lone Peak vs. Copper Hills

The Lone Peak Knights will face off against the Copper Hills Grizzlies at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams are coming into the matchup red-hot, with Lone Peak sitting on nine straight victories and Copper Hills on three.

Lone Peak is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. Their defense stepped up to hand Westlake a 3-0 shutout. Considering Lone Peak have won nine contests by more than two goals this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

They hit Westlake with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Kate Fuller, Macie Leavitt, and Sami Schiffman.

The home team had won the previous three meetings between Copper Hills and Herriman, and Copper Hills kept the tradition alive. The Grizzlies sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 win over the Mustangs on Tuesday. The score was all tied up 0-0 at the break, but Copper Hills were the better team in the second half.

Lone Peak's victory bumped their record up to 16-1-1. As for Copper Hills, their win bumped their record up to 14-5.

Lone Peak took their victory against Copper Hills in their previous matchup back in October of 2018 by a conclusive 5-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Knights since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
