Basketball Recap: Monrovia Takes a Loss

Monrovia was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They fell 52-41 to the Beech Grove Hornets. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Bulldogs of the 68-64 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in January of 2024.

Beech Grove's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Bishop Moore led the charge by putting up 12 points and five boards. Moore is also on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 50% in the last four games he's played. Tyris Reid was another key player, going 5-for-10 to rack up 16 points and eight rebounds.

Monrovia's defeat dropped their record down to 6-12. As for Beech Grove, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 7-12 record this season.

Looking ahead, Monrovia won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Indianapolis Scecina Memorial at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Beech Grove, they and Shelbyville will face off at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday without much rest, having both just played.
