Baseball Recap: Pomeroy Takes a Loss

Colton hit Pomeroy with a eight-run fifth inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Pirates lost 13-4 to the Wildcats. The Pirates were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Wildcats apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Conrad Nelson was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. He has become a key player for Pomeroy: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least three hits, but 7-8 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Boone Schmidt, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run.

This is the second loss in a row for Pomeroy and nudges their season record down to 9-9. As for Colton, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 6-7.
