Basketball Recap: Brookland-Cayce Drops Season-High Score on Andrews

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Brookland-Cayce). They put the hurt on the Andrews Yellowjackets with a sharp 65-39 win on Saturday. The Bearcats have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five matches by 21 points or more this season.

Brookland-Cayce was led to victory by Dalacia Rouse and Kamryn Etheredge. Rouse dropped a double-double on 21 points and 12 rebounds, while Etheredge went 8 of 19 on her way to 24 points along with six assists and six boards. With that strong performance, Rouse is now averaging an impressive 8.3 boards per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Maci Cobb, who went 5 of 12 on her way to 14 points in addition to seven boards and three steals.

Brookland-Cayce smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 27 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Despite the defeat, Andrews saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Camaria Gibson dropped a double-double on 15 points and 13 rebounds.

The victory (which was Brookland-Cayce's fourth in a row) raised their record to 7-5. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 29.5 points per game. As for Andrews, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-11.

Brookland-Cayce wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 71-30 win against Georgetown on the 30th. As for Andrews, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 34-29 loss against Happy Valley on the 30th.
