The Austin Panthers will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against the Ysleta Indians at 6:30 p.m. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Having struggled with five defeats in a row, Austin turned things around against Irvin on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Rockets by a score of 8-5.
Austin saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Anakin Torres, who scored three runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
Austin always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .524. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Irvin only posted an OBP of .344.
Meanwhile, Ysleta entered their tilt with Riverside on Friday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Rangers a 10-0 shutout. Considering the Indians have won seven games by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Evan Martinez was a major factor no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over five innings pitched. What's more, he gave up only three hits, the fewest he's had since back in April of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Angel Flores was a standout: he went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Ysleta is 4-2 when Flores posts two or more runs, but 3-11 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Alexander Rubio, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs and one triple.
Austin's victory was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 3-14. As for Ysleta, their win bumped their record up to 7-13.
