Basketball Recap: Franklin Central Gets the Win

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Franklin Central walked away with it. They walked away with a 54-47 win over the Center Grove Trojans on Tuesday. This was a revenge game for the Flashes: when they faced off against the Trojans back in November of 2024, they had to take a 44-39 loss.

Franklin Central found their leader in sophomore Payton Duvall, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 18 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Riley Huotari, who posted ten points.

Despite the loss, Center Grove still got an impressive performance from Gracyn Gilliard, who went 8 for 18 on her way to 20 points and four steals. Gilliard has been hot recently, having posted 18 or more points the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ava Grant, who earned 11 points.

Franklin Central's victory bumped their record up to 16-9. As for Center Grove, their defeat dropped their record down to 18-4.

Franklin Central will square off against Southport at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Franklin Central is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 55.5 points per game this season. Center Grove does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
