Basketball Game Preview: Palmer Ridge Bears vs. Lutheran Lions

The Palmer Ridge Bears will head out to square off against the Lutheran Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Palmer Ridge is headed into the contest after thoroughly thrashing Discovery Canyon: they outscored them in every quarter. Palmer Ridge was the clear victor by a 54-31 margin over Discovery Canyon on Wednesday. The Bears have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine matchups by 21 points or more this season.

Palmer Ridge's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Addison Steenland, who posted 16 points, and Annaliese Bossinger, who went 5 of 6 on her way to 12 points and eight rebounds. Steenland has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last five times she's played. Corinna Arellano was another key player, putting up eight points and three steals.

Meanwhile, Lutheran didn't have too much trouble with Cheyenne Mountain on Wednesday as they won 40-24. Given the Lions' advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 77th, while the Red-Tailed Hawks are ranked 212th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Palmer Ridge is also on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.0 points per game. As for Lutheran, their record now sits at 8-10.

Palmer Ridge came up short against Lutheran in their previous matchup two weeks ago, falling 36-28. Can Palmer Ridge avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
