Baseball Recap: Thursday's Victory Is Lourdes' Sixth in Last Seven Outings

It's playoff time, and Lourdes had no trouble coming through when it counted. Everything went their way against the Chatfield Gophers on Thursday as they made off with a 12-2 win. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight games by six runs or more this season.

Easton Gasner was a major factor no matter where he played. He pitched five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had over his last four contests. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

In other batting news, Jack McCabe was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Nicholas Bowron, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Lourdes was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .310 or higher in four consecutive matches.

Lourdes has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a massive bump to their 13-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.1 runs on average over those games. As for Chatfield, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-11.

Lourdes has already played their next contest, an 11-1 loss against Pine Island on the 24th. Chatfield does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
