Football Recap: George West Skates Past Monte Alto with Ease

George West strolled into their game on Friday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They blew past the Monte Alto Blue Devil, posting a 72-6 win. The result was nothing new for the Longhorns, who have now won three contests by 34 points or more so far this season.

George West's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kohen Blount, who rushed for 126 yards and one score. Blount is crushing it when it comes to rushing yards: he's rushed for at least 114 every time he's taken the field this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaxson Alaniz, who rushed for 37 yards and one TD.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: George West was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 601 rushing yards. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their rushing yard total in three consecutive games.

George West didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Joel Ruiz and Parker Heard.

George West's win bumped their record up to 5-0. As for Monte Alto, their loss dropped their record down to 0-6.

Coincidentally, George West and Monte Alto will both be playing Odem the next time they take the field. The Longhorns will host the Owls at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, while the Blue Devil will head out to face them at 7:30 p.m. on the 17th.
