Volleyball Recap: Central Takes a Loss + How To Watch

Central was the 3-0 winner over St. Edward when they last played one another back in October of 2015, but their luck changed this time around. The Cobras took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Pirates on Tuesday. The Cobras have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back matches.

Central started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The match finished with set scores of 19-25, 25-20, 27-25, 25-20.

Zion Boakai paced Central's offense, picking up 15 kills. Boakai got some help from Mikenzie Langen and her 16 assists. Langen was also solid from the service line: she led the team with eight aces.

Leading St. Edward's to victory were Grace Fykes and Nevin Waddell. Fykes had 21 digs, while Waddell had 17 digs, 13 kills, and four aces. Those 17 digs gave Waddell a new career-high.

Central now has a losing record of 6-7. As for St. Edward's, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-7 record this season.

Central didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 3-0 loss against Vero Beach on the 25th. As for St. Edward's, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 3-0 defeat against John Carroll Catholic on the 25th.
