Basketball Game Preview: Avon Panthers vs. South Shore Vo-Tech Vikings

For the first time this season, Avon will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will be home for the holidays to greet the South Shore Vo-Tech Vikings at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. South Shore Vo-Tech took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Avon, who comes in off a win.

Avon is looking to give their home crowd another W after opening their season at home on Thursday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Atlantis 86-41. The Panthers have beaten Atlantis the last six times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest Atlantis has come to flipping the script.

Thomas Edwards had a dynamite game, going 8-for-13 from beyond the arc en route to 32 points in addition to six assists and five rebounds. His evening made it 19 games in a row in which he has scored at least 17 points. Douglas Ateku was another key player, dropping a double-double with 12 points and 11 boards.

Meanwhile, South Shore Vo-Tech was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat dating back to last season. They took a 56-44 hit to the loss column at the hands of Upper Cape Cod RVT.

Avon didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against South Shore Vo-Tech in their previous matchup back in February, but they still walked away with a 65-60 victory. Will the Panthers repeat their success, or do the Vikings have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
