Softball Game Preview: Preston Knights vs. Lincoln Cougars

Preston hasn't had much luck against Lincoln recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Knights will look to defend their home field against the Cougars at 5:30 p.m. Preston has given up an average of 9.2 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Preston had been on a three-game streak of scoring at least ten runs, but Morgantown put an end to it on Friday. The Knights came up short against the Mohigans, falling 16-1.

Preston saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sophie Zinn, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one run.

Meanwhile, Lincoln was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They fell 14-11 to Sissonville. While the Cougars didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Indians 4-0 in the first period.

Kerstyn Leggett stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: she went 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Haleigh Gump, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Lincoln's loss dropped their record down to 9-7. As for Preston, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-7.
