Basketball Recap: Chesaning Comes Up Short

Chesaning came into their game on Tuesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against the Michigan Lutheran Seminary Cardinals, falling 55-33. While losing is never fun, the Indians can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 545th, while the Cardinals are ranked 237th).

Leading Michigan Lutheran Seminary to victory were Charli Alcorn and Kennedy Koehler. Alcorn posted 17 points and seven rebounds, while Koehler put up 13 points and six boards. Alcorn continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Kerin Gardner was another key player, putting up five points and seven boards.

Chesaning's defeat dropped their record down to 5-16. As for Michigan Lutheran Seminary, their record is now 15-6.

Looking ahead, Chesaning will square off against Nouvel Catholic Central at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Chesaning is facing Nouvel Catholic Central at the right time seeing as Nouvel Catholic Central is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Michigan Lutheran Seminary, a feisty cat fight will be fought as the Cardinals face off against the Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
